What Is Vietnamese Hair? A Buyer's Guide to Origin, Processing and Quality

If you are searching for Vietnamese hair, you have seen the same words again and again: raw, virgin, remy, single donor, double drawn, premium quality. Those words alone do not tell you what you are actually buying. For a salon owner or hair distributor, the more useful questions are simpler. Where does the hair come from. How has it been processed. Who produces the finished hair extensions. And can the supplier show you the actual hair before you place a larger order. This guide answers all four.

The hair AZ Hair works with is sourced from women in Vietnam. That sourcing stage happens well before the hair becomes the clean, aligned bundle you see in a catalog or an Instagram video. After the hair arrives at the factory, it still needs to be sorted and prepared for production.

Instead of only asking "Is this Vietnamese hair," also ask: "Can you show me the hair before it is processed." A current video of the raw hair tells you more than another "100% Vietnamese hair" label on a product page.

Origin is where the hair came from. Processing is what happened to it afterward. Vietnamese hair can be sold in its natural color, or it can go through additional processing to reach different colors and finished products.

At our factory, the basic production flow runs sourcing, then sorting and alignment, then bleaching and coloring when required, then natural air drying, then product making, then final QC and packing. Not every order requires every step. An order for a lifted or custom color goes through different processing than hair ordered in its natural color.

You will often see terms such as single drawn, double drawn and super double drawn. These terms are useful when choosing the appearance of a finished bundle, but treating them as the complete definition of hair quality is a mistake.

The easiest way to understand drawn type is to look at the bottom of the bundle. Some bundles naturally taper thinner toward the ends. Others are sorted to keep a fuller look from top to bottom. Instead of asking "What is your best grade," ask the supplier to show you the available options side by side. For a first order, seeing and physically testing the differences tells you more than a grade name ever will.

If you are buying one bundle for yourself, a small inconsistency is a minor problem. If you are buying for a salon or distributing hair to your own customers, it becomes a much bigger one.

Say you test a sample and like it, then order a larger quantity. What matters now is whether the production team can deliver an order that matches the specifications you approved. That is why B2B buyers should ask about the source hair, the product specification, the production process, quality checks and repeat-order consistency. The question stops being "Is the hair good." It becomes "Can this supplier produce what I approved again."
